OOC Discussion

I can dig it. I’ll do it as a PM as to achieve the most hidden of hides.

Collecting adventuring votes.

Voted to kill goblins (or at least, seemed most interested in killing goblins):
Miska, Kaul, Hengist

Seemed most interested in Orleans:
Aria, Kerrick, Masov

Not yet expressed an opinion:
Andrew, Gwydion

Thanks for posting this… I’ll give the remaining two until the end of today to reply, then we’ll see if we can hash out a majority opinion amongst those who’ve replied.

My internet connection is back up and running, which makes my life easier. I’ll be posting some more info now, including an initial map (see the map thread, here).

A question came up about posting frequency, and I’ll just point out that I mentioned 1 per day in the recruitment thread. It’s not a hard and fast rule, as I know life happens, but it’s definitely the goal. On significant decisions (such as the current question of where to go) I’ll try to give 24 hours (I’m willing to wait longer for what I deem really important decisions), but I’m then going to try and move things along, by majority rules if necessary. Otherwise, a PbP game tends to get bogged down.

If you want your Character to do something, try to frame it in an active voice, as opposed to a passive, in-character dialogue (or, ideally, both), for example: I’ll ask around the festival about… as opposed to just: “I’d be curious how long it’s been…” so there’s no confusion about what you’re actually doing.

thirdkingdom has also taken to adding a header to his/her in-character posts, labelling them with a Character name. This is extremely handy for everyone reading the in-character thread, including me, so we don’t all have to translate your username into your Character’s name every time we read one of your posts. On other sites I’ve handled this with colours for in-character dialogue, but I don’t believe that’s currently possible here, so Character-name headers are probably the best bet.

If there’s no bar on mingling starting funds I’ll take you up on that, thank you. Spending some more myself, I show Dagmar in chain, AC 4, carrying a spear, and now a sling as well. Better armor will still be a priority for Hengist and Dagmar both if we live to see a treasure haul.

Bobloblah, shall I track Dagmar in the character thread or do you want her behind the scenes?

il give you 10 gp
to keep some silver for expenses

I’ll track Dagmar and other Henchmen initially, at least until they’re solid members of the party.

Starting funds can’t actually be “pooled,” but the purchase can be made now, in-game. Castle Blackmarsh is a large town of a little more than 6,000 people, but is a trade hub, and the preeminent settlement in the region.

ok, then seeing dagmar so poorly equiped ill offer 10 gp to improve the meatshield´s shieldiness.

Allow me to clarify: before starting, any and all purchases were possible, but only by each Character with their own starting gold. Now that we’ve begun, you can all combine your funds, if you wish, but any purchases will be subject to Market Class availability, or any other limits derived in-game.

Had some weird problems posting with a roll this morning, and the post showed up four or five times (with multiple rolls). I’m going to do some experimentation to see I that was a one-off, or a consistent problem…

I follow the principle but am now confused by the upshot. Can I get Dagmar to chain armor after hiring and before departure, or are we at leather and hoping to find a shield for sale?

I believe this is the relevant post. The question is, can you afford to buy chain? Assuming this is a Class IV market there should be one suit available.

Correct. If you have the money now (or can cajole the party into chipping in), we can assume you bought a suit of chain armour before leaving Castle Blackmarsh.

The difference before play began? You could buy anything, ignoring Market Class and availability, but could only use your Character’s money.

Then we’re at chain, spear and sling.

Understood.

Just returned from my overseas adventure. Should be able to keep up until my next trip in September.

We’re just about to really get rolling. I’m actually traveling today, so I won’t be posting until later tonight.

Another quick point: Don’t be afraid to split the party (I know, I know… Rule #1: don’t split the party; Rule #2: DON’T SPLIT THE PARTY!). It’s a large party, and, at least in non-dungeon situations, splitting is perfectly viable, and can allow more to be accomplished in a PbB.
