OOC Discussion

We’re just about to really get rolling. I’m actually traveling today, so I won’t be posting until later tonight.

Another quick point: Don’t be afraid to split the party (I know, I know… Rule #1: don’t split the party; Rule #2: DON’T SPLIT THE PARTY!). It’s a large party, and, at least in non-dungeon situations, splitting is perfectly viable, and can allow more to be accomplished in a PbB.
Miska the Misanthropic "Hmmmph. If there's one thing I've learned in life, it's that you should never trust anyone, ever. That way, you will never be disappointed by their inevitable betrayal ."
I say we take off and nuke the boat from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
Aria Danae Aria tries to read the strange script engraved on Kaul's crossbow, too. Noticing that he seems to be listening, she attempts a Hear Noise check to see if he has text-to-speech installed.
Did you just insult a non-native English speaker and the handicapped in the same post? Bravo, good sir, bravo! Regardless, it's much too dark to read his crossbow from where Aria is standing.

However, you can hear him mumbling something as he examines it, "This--end--towards--enemy..."

Its good to see that the crossbow manufacturers take into consideration the needs of the blind crossbowmen.

As there’ve been no further posts, I’m going to assume the party beds down for the night, then heads into town in the morning, barring any nighttime calamity. I’ll also assume 4 night watches based on marching order ranks, with Aria and Gwydion going last before the dawn, and the front rank of Hengist and Miska taking the witching hour. You might want to set up an SOP for camping in the wilderness…

Oh, and thirdkingdom’s post in the SOP thread hasn’t been updated with Dagmar.

That’s because a consensus was never reached. There were two options proposed – post 39 and 42 – but not enough people weighed in vote one way or the other.

I thought 42 had more, and more recent, input - Lucas putting his dog in rear rank, getting Andrew the healer out of rearguard. Mason could certainly veto if he feels he’s being voluntold for rearguard, otherwise I see no reason to wait for everyone to vote to adopt the latest version.

I’d really like to hear from everybody before I continue. Clearly, things are about to get a bit more involved, so if you can please try and hit the 1 post per day target. I’ll move things forward sometime tomorrow morning.

Can I still see the party, but not who they’re talking to, or can I see no one?

Should be clear from the image I just posted.
EDIT: but just in case, you can only see the party.

I’ve gone ahead and deleted my post in the SOP thread regarding marching order, if you’d like to post the new order there.

Waiting for a couple more responses before continuing… although it’s a long weekend in the US and Canada, so the next couple days may be a bit slow.

Sorry, I had another business trip last week!

Oops. And just realized, while updating my character sheet, that I never bought food. Elf is hungry!

No worries! I went light this weekend, as it was a long weekend in the US and Canada. I’m working on a post now.

It’s currently not a problem, as there is at least one inn in Orlean. Assuming you stay there and pay for food, of course.

Sorry, the next post regarding the Baron is taking a bit longer to write, and I’ve been offline just about all of today due to the holiday here. The post will go up tomorrow. Again, sorry for the delay. Also, check your PMs.

Question: If this was a live game, I’d likely be doing some OOC conversation about what we’d ask of the baron, and we’d then elect the highest CHA PC (Kerrick) to be our speaker.

I think we’ve been doing OK with the more natural conversations with low-priority NPCs; do we want to have any sort of pause for collection of thoughts in the sorts of situations where we may want to have a ‘representative’, of sorts, in the future?

(this is the first PbP game for me, so I’m still sussing out differences in a approach between this and live play)

I am purposefully being deferential to the high CHA leaders for this reason.

If there are important questions, or a particular approach you want to take, it’s definitely worth doing, and I am always willing to wait for that to happen. I haven’t really been waiting long thus far, as you are just at the stage of sussing out what is going on, and I want to keep things moving. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, you’ve wandered into the least immediately combative, and least straightforward of the rumours from Castle Blackmarsh. This is killing Alex, clearly! Back to koewn’s original question, the Baron seems to have reacted favourably (or at least neutrally) to the party, not really showing preference for any of you in particular, and it doesn’t seem crucial that only Gwydion (with his high Charisma and aura) speak to him, for example.
