Backer Rewards for the Dwimmermount Kickstarter

After months of assembling the kind of collaboration that characterizes the best adventuring parties,I am proud to outline the rewards that Autarch will be helping Grognardia Games make available to supporters of our Dwimmermount crowdfunding campaign.

Neophyte: Backstage access! ($5+)

Watch Dwimmermount blossom from James’ campaign notes, and help its development by downloading the latest drafts from autarch.co and playtesting them with your group. If you like what you see, you can increase your pledge at any time to get the finished product in which you will be named as a supporter.

Zealot: Two copies of the PDF! ($10+)

All the above, plus as soon as Dwimmermount is completed you’ll receive it as two fully illustrated electronic books. The first PDF is compatible with the Labyrinth Lord rules used in James’ original campaign; in the second, Autarch has provided stats and economic context for its Adventurer Conqueror King System. Both the LL and ACKS versions will have your name listed in the credits for your backing level.

Beholder: Hardback + free shipping to Canada & the US! ($40+)

All the above, and as soon as the Dwimmermount hardcovers arrive from the printers, you’ll get a print copy for your table as well as the e-book for reference. (Please specify LL or ACKS version of the hardback. Add $5 for shipping to Europe, $10 to Asia or Australia.)

Practitioner: Separate map book! ($60+)

All the above, and you’ll receive a softcover booklet presenting each of Dwimmermount’s wilderness, dungeon, and fortress maps as a two-page spread for reference and annotation in play. (Please specify LL or ACKS for hardback. Add $5 for shipping to Europe, $10 to Asia or Australia.)

Philosopher: Megadungeon tracker! ($100+)

All the above, and you get a wipe-erase vinyl mat designed for recording your party’s progress through the levels of Dwimmermount and updating how the dungeon’s factions react. (Please specify LL or ACKS for hardback. Add $10 for shipping to Europe, $20 to Asia or Australia.)

Adept: Immortalize your adventures! ($200+, 20 available)

All the above, and we’ll work with you to ensure that one of the illustrations in the finished product will depict a scene from your party’s explorations of Dwimmermount at one of our events, via G+, or with your home group. (Please specify LL or ACKS for hardback. Add $10 for shipping to Europe, $20 to Asia or Australia.)

Major Adept: Signed hand-bound limited edition! ($375+, 10 available)

All the above, and each of the creators of Dwimmermount will personally sign your copy of a custom-made leather hand-bound limited edition. (Please specify LL or ACKS for hardback. Add $10 for shipping to Europe, $20 to Asia or Australia.)

Exalted Monster: Create a Dwimmermount invader! ($750+, 4 available)

All the above, and we’ll work with you to create and play a monstrous character that will be published in Dwimmermount as a member of a rival adventuring party, with a character portrait by Jeff Dee - his signed original artwork is yours to treasure. (Please specify LL or ACKS for hardback. Add $20 for shipping to Europe, $40 to Asia or Australia.)

Exalted Adept: Create a Dwimmermount explorer! ($800+, 4 available)

All the above, and we’ll work with you to create and play a human character that will be published in Dwimmermount as a member of a rival adventuring party, with a character portrait by Jeff Dee - his signed original artwork is yours to treasure. (Please specify LL or ACKS for hardback. Add $20 for shipping to Europe, $40 to Asia or Australia.)

Monstrous Magister: Miniature figure of your invader! ($2,000+, 4 available)

All the benefits of an Exalted Monster, plus Sandra Garrity will sculpt your monstrous character as published in Dwimmermount; you’ll get a set of all the miniatures Sandra sculpts, and in addition to Jeff’s original art, you’ll get the miniature of your monster hand-painted by an artist chosen by Sandra. (Please specify LL or ACKS for hardback. Add $20 for shipping to Europe, $40 to Asia or Australia.)

Magister: Miniature figure of your explorer! ($2,200+, 4 available)

All the benefits of an Exalted One, plus Sandra Garrity will sculpt your human character as published in Dwimmermount; you’ll get a set of all the miniatures Sandra sculpts, and in addition to Jeff’s original art, you’ll get the miniature of your explorer hand-painted by an artist chosen by Sandra. (Please specify LL or ACKS for hardback. Add $20 for shipping to Europe, $40 to Asia or Australia.)

Archmage: Ultimate Dwimmermount miniatures! ($10,000+, 1 available)

You will be honored with both the Magister and Monstrous Magister rewards, a complete set of painted miniatures, and a dungeon befitting their splendor: a special selection of Dwarven Forge’s Master Maze pieces enabling you to build enough of any of Dwimmermount’s levels to fill the entire vault of a Sultan gaming table. (Sultan not included, as you’ll want one custom built by Geek Chic to fit your space, but we will film a video of us building each level in the Brooklyn Strategist’s Sultan to guide your own setup.)

The aspect of these rewards I’m proudest of is the way that the products reflect play, and visa versa. To take one example, our artists in residence program means that illustrations made possible by the Adept level reward will often be based on things that happened in an adventure where we are also playtesting the megadungeon tracker to see how it can best be designed to be the most functional product possible. This tight loop is like the roleplaying works that inspired me, where of course Jeff Dee has a character in the Rogue’s Gallery that he played alongside Mordenkainen, because everyone at TSR was busily playing and playtesting and writing and drawing all at once so their work has rich inter-connections.

It’s also a natural extension of James’ advocacy that roleplaying products should be useful in play, first and foremost. As Grognardia readers we’ve been fortunate enough to watch how playing with an openness to being surprised by player input has led to better ideas for the Dwimmermount campaign. I am honored to have been in a position to make that feedback part of the process of turning the thing James and his group played into a product that any gamer can use.

(I tried posting this on the Grognardia site, but I don’t think it’s going through. Apologies for dupe posts!)

Since I’m a beta-tester at heart…

  1. “Exalted Adept” lists “All of the above”; does that include “Exalted Monster”? (If so, that’s a near-no-brainer for someone considering Exalted Monster… for $50 more you get another portrait and more in-game-world goodness!)

  2. “Magister” lists all the benefits of “Exalted One,” but there’s no reward of that name. Should that be “Exalted Adept”?

  3. I’m a bit surprised there’s no option for allowing someone to get both the LL and ACKS edition hardcovers.

Otherwise, looks interesting; I look forward to seeing it start!

Nice rewards and breakdown! Any chance there’ll be a pledge level for the hardcover plus the tracker, but without the map book?

Very excited for this to launch.

Wow, this is just too cool. I am for sure supporting this, just have to choose at which level…all that good stuff!

This is great news! After following Mr. Maliszewski’s blog for well over an year now, it is awesome we finally get Dwimmermount in playable form!

I have a question, however. Are there extra shipping costs for South America? The text simply doesn’t mention the sub-continent entirely, and since the free shipping is mentioned specifically for Canada and US, I imagine there must be some extra cost.

Good question! We will be shipping from Game Salute’s warehouse in New Hampshire, USA. Could you run a shipping calculator to your address and let me know what it says?

Yes, I will add a parenthetical on adding the unique bits of higher level rewards to the lower ones!

You are a great guy to have around, Steven! I will resolve all those things.

The small flat rate box (don’t know if the book would fit there), would cost $16.95.

Wow, that sounds more like Australia. Who would have guessed? Do you have a game store that could sign up for Game Salute Select?

Thanks, Tavis!

I’m really interested in this!

As someone living in the UK, I’m curious about the shipping costs. If I got both book and map book, is that an extra $5 shipping for each, or only a one time fee? The description isn’t clear.

Micah, I am afraid it is too late to change the backer reward text on the Kickstarter site proper but I can add a FAQ. The idea is that as long as all the things are shipped at the same time, you just pay the one listed shipping. Shipping increases if you have the megadungeon tracker - use the amount listed there if you are getting one of those added to a lower level reward.

That’s awesome. Thanks for that. I’m definitely more inclined if it’s only $5 shipping for two books!

I think there is still great value in commenting on blogs Indiegogo but as you mention you have to do it the right way.
