I've just posted the first play report from my ACKS 'Sundered Empires' campaign. This post is actually a bit out of date, as I've written 6 play reports so far and have them 'in the hopper' so to speak.
Basically I'm running a group through a homebrew world I've been using for campaigns for almost 20 years, with a few adjustments for ACKS of course. And I'm using B2, naturally.
More to come soon!

That sounds fantastic! Thanks for sharing the story so far.
The Auran Empire campaign began with B2 as well, and the very first encounters our PCs had were with the guard goblins and the ogres - reading your play description sounds is eerily familiar. Although it sounds like your group did MUCH better than ours did. Our party soon became known as "the Bloody Band" because of their outrageous casualties.
That's hilarious! I don't know what it is about the group, but in (I think) 8 sessions, they've lost only one hireling (to a wight). Though they did almost lose another one to a poison trap tonight. I don't pull my punches or anything, and roll the dice out in the open but I think a mix of luck, Healing Proficiency, and overwhelming number of party mooks have kept them safe. Granted, they are more like a small military unit than an adventuring party!
Here is session 2's report. Another trip to the Caves, but waaaaaay less successful this time!

Great session report!
It's gratifying to read that the players have adopted military style formations. The players in the playtest campaign did the same, suggesting its an emergent property of the rules.
Are the players operating in a "sinkhole of evil"? Your text seems to suggest so (with the zombies rising and so on) but you didn't make it explicit if so.
Yes, the ruins of Dalagar are a Sinkhole of Evil. I've not really decided the exact level. I've been considering buying Barrowmaze to flesh it out. Also a slightly higher level version of The Lichway is hidden away there and I'm taking a page out of Grognardia for it's significance.
Of course, they don't know that yet. They are probably going to head for the Lichway this next session (if they can pick up the leads).
A bit more on the background of my setting.

Newest Session Report...and the first fatality!
http://micahblackburn.wordpress.com/2012/04/29/sundered-empires-session-5/
Awesome! Given the tough foes they are facing (ghouls and wights) I'm amazed they didn't lose more characters.
What is everyone's class and level at this point?
Honestly it's been a surprise to me too! But I roll the dice in the open and let things fall as they do. The are a verge cautious group for sure. I did forget Cleaving with the wight but frankly that just makes them too scary!
I think only one of them was level 2 in this session and everyone else was first.
Classwise the group varies from session to session but in general we have:
Alfric-dwarven vaultguard
Long Tom-Bladedancer
Kanen-Tal-cleric
Arakhe-Bladedancer
Lucian-Even nightblade (player rarely can play though)
Plus a number of mainly fighter hirelings though they've picked a mage and warden hireling as well.
Recently though it won't show for a few session reports they've been joined by a witch and a Nar (Thrassian) Gladiator...a true monster in melee!
Three cleric-types, a nightblade, and no mages or thieves. Fascinating group structure! The high number of clerics must be helping survive against all the undead madness.
One of the things I've noticed, broadly speaking, is how popular the bladedancer class. It's as if everyone has always secretly wanted to play lightly armored clerics with swords, but no one knew it.

I noticed that too! We had two in the first session and I certainly find them very fascinating. My world doesn't have the sex restriction which probably increases their appeal.
Interestingly the players were all till first level in by this point so the clerics weren't really keeping them alive as it were. It'll b interesting to see how the plethora of clw works going forward.

A bit about how mage's guilds work in my setting:
http://micahblackburn.wordpress.com/2012/05/07/the-mages-guild/
Great stuff. I like how you've integrated mages into your setting.

Thanks! Yeah I'm quite happy with how the mages turned out. The nice thing about the post apocalypse setting is ignore lets me justify something I had in the setting (the guild) and explore it's history. Soon up, magical corruption and chaos warps.
More stuff on the campaign's background. Some Artifacts!

Newest Session Report:
http://micahblackburn.wordpress.com/2012/05/16/sundered-empires-session-...
"Now, this fight brought up a number of little nits with the system. The Sleep spell is not explained very well. Or specifically, the area and how it is targeted. By my reading of the ACKS version, it effects the targets you want it to, so there is no danger of sleeping your own party. This seems extremely powerful, but otherwise I’m not sure how to play it. Also, initiative. I’ve been letting the player’s hirelings act on their initiative (rather than rolling for each pc and hireling separately). This is good for speed of play, but feels a bit awkward (especially when a high dex bladedancer is rolling the initiative for a group of 4 characters). I’ll probably not do anything about this though simply as any other choice would be too difficult to implement in actual play."
APM: Another great session report! A few thoughts in response to points you raised.
Townhouse - 1st level adventurers on their way to 2nd level are almost as wealthy as master smiths. It's well within the means of a group of such adventurers to buy a town house.
Sleep - You are correct that in ACKS the Sleep spell effects the targets you want it to, with no danger of sleeping your own party.
Initiative - In my home campaign we use the RAW and roll initiative for each named PC and NPC, and for each identical set of creatures. Once your players get used to it, it runs just as fast as having the NPCs go at the same time as the PC, and is actually more fun, because it breaks up the action.
For example, let's say Bob, Steve, and Luke each have 1 PC and 2 NPCs. If each NPC goes at the same time as the PC, then the turn order is going to be more-or-less, Bob/Bob/Bob/Steve/Steve/Steve/Luke/Luke/Luke, or some variant thereof. If you separate out the PCs from the NPCs die rolls, you will get Bob/Luke/Steve/Luke/Steve/Bob/Bob/Steve/Luke, or some variant thereof. So each person has more opportunities to jump in and less time spent waiting. Just do an initiative countdown 10...9...8...7... down to 1.
Also, if NPCs act on their PC's die roll, it's a huge benefit to have all the NPCs work for the highest DEX PC. That's obviously a grotesque rules distortion.
Hey Alex. Glad you are enjoying the APRs. Thanks for taking time to address my questions/concerns as well!
The thing about the initiative for everyone: every PC who can have hirelings has as many as they can find. This means that even if only two players show up, they often go exploring with a 8-10 person party. If I have three or more players, I've had 16 characters going at once. I don't know about keeping track of that many people.
However, saying that, I do like the idea of mixing up their actions so that a) they are less cohesive as a unit and b) the players get to act multiple times in the round. It does suck for the guy with the low charisma though!
Glad to know that the townhouse thing is in the right ball park. I noticed that you have a chart showing monthly costs for characters of X level. What's the incentive to PCs to live like that? Do you consider that spending for reserve xp?
Good to know I was doing the sleep spell right! Thanks!
Again, I'm glad you are enjoying reading my reports and we are glad to be playing your game! :)

Great session report! I love that the mages' familiar is a dragonfly. Really cool idea.
Cool, thanks! I wish I could take credit for that, but that's all him. At first he wanted a flying lizard, but then thought a 'bug theme' might be cooler. I figured, meh, why not? I said it had the same stats as a regular bird basically, but otherwise, sure. So, there you go! If they ever go into a sylvan wood, I'll probably have more of them show up.

Who is the artist "Simmguy" that you've pasted on your blog? He needs to be doing art for ACKS!
Also, this:
“See, your friend just got killed by an elf,” Alfric said. “That means he goes to orc hell. Now, if you tell us what we want to know, you get to get killed by a dwarf so you can die with some dignity.”
These guys need to work on their interrogation routine.
After some back and forth, and false promises, Alfric found out where the rest of them were and how many of them there were. Alfric chopped of one of the orc’s legs and then told him he was free to go. “Liar,” the orc screamed in pain, “Betrayer!”
“Would you have treated us any different?” Lucian asked.
“Touche,” the orc said. “I see what you did there.”
***
Laugh-out-loud funny. That may have been the Platonic ideal of every RPG interrogation of orcs, ever.
Simmguy is a friend of mine who should join us playing D&D/Acks for the first time tonight.
If you are serious, I imagine he'd claw a relative's eyes out for freelance work. I can pass you his details.
And thanks for that! Glad it made you laugh. I agree it was pretty perfectexample of pc 'negotiation' and brought a lot of laughs when it happened. :-)
Please do! We're always looking for artists. I'll email him ASAP if you pass his details.

Twenty Questions about the setting:
http://micahblackburn.wordpress.com/2012/06/16/twenty-questions/
I really dig your setting! I love how you were able to seamlessly incorporate ACK's "tropes" into your world. If I didn't know ACKS's tropes I wouldn't have even noticed them. Amazing synthesis skillz.
Also, your descripton of "who are the highest level characters" was a great idea. I need to crib that concept.
Wow, thanks a lot. :D
Actually, I'd love to see the 'mightiest characters' in your campaign world too, now that I think of it. Share! Share! :)

I think Rage Claw is my favorite character! It seems like the Thrassian pc class is really working out well in your campaign.
Rage Claw has been indeed made of awesome. I have a new pic of him from Simmguy that will show up in the next play report that makes him look even more awesome. I do have concerns with the natural armor and 3 attack routine (you'll see him do some crazy crap later on). But from an RP perspective, he's a lot of fun!
After a long break, here's the next Session Report:

Nice! I see henchmen in Rage Claw's future...
That's what he was angling for as well. I think he began thinking that the village might well be something he could sway to taking him as its leader...
Not a session report, just a bit based on my recent visit to the Dain Tree rain forest and what it made me think about wilderness adventuring.
http://micahblackburn.wordpress.com/2012/07/28/rain-forests-and-gaming/
Great points regarding rain forests, and elves.
It made me ask myself, "when did elves become Native Americans?" I think Shadowrun was the tipping point.
I think you are right.
I think it's interesting that elves were, at least in some mythologies, basically gods (Norse, I'm looking at you). And of course that's certainly an influence that Tolkien drew upon for making them the whole immortal, better-than-you version we get. Even the european fae influences were beings of such power they shaped the world around them rather than being 'part of it'.
Over time, gaming has really watered them down. Certainly, a variety of influences have shaped them (native american stand-in definitely being one of those).
But whether they are gods, or elemental spirits, or magical apex-predators, I just don't get the 'hippy' stereotype.

Hey, another great update! Quick thoughts on the questions you raised:
1. Cleaves with multiple attacks is definitely powerful. At level 2-3 it's going to be very powerful because most of the monsters will still be killable with a hit or two, and three chances to hit makes a big difference. It balances out over time, though. From experience, in the Auran Empire campaign, we had a Centaur PC from level 1 to level 10, and while iitially his hoof attacks were envy-provoking, it wasn't a dominance that lasted...
2. Infravision is a 3rd level spell because it lasts 24 hours. You could make a lower level version with a shorter duration.
3. 3 creatures with one-handed weapons or any piercing/stabbing weapons can fight side-by-side in a 10' corridor. If the creatures are wielding two-handed weapons, then only 2 creatures can fight side by side.
In practice, you can end up with, e.g., 2 fighters in the front row with great axes, with a second rank of 3 spearmen. They might face off against 3 enemies with short swords with a second rank of 3 pikes. Etc.
Awesome! Hope you don't mind, but that answer (about fighting side by side) is going straight up on my blog!
It's Sunday, it must be Session Report time!
Rage Claw's dream of a lizardman dominion go a bit sour...

Great report! A few things that jump out at me:
1) I love how you're able to contextualize the Mortal Wounds effects in the game-world. How often do you find you really have to contort yourself to come up with an explanation as to what happened? I find that 85% of the time it's easy and then 15% of the time it's ridiculous. :)
2) Are you using Group Initiative? I just noticed from your narrative it seems to be "I go, you go".
3) Moria alone is sufficient justification for me to set all of my campaigns in Arabian Nights-themed settings, going forward, forever.
