Can I please get Initiative rolls and actions (with rolls) for both Hengist and Dagmar? Dave R can do this by editing his last post, I think, but if you can't edit please just make another post.
"We need to find evidence of the carpenter being something wrong, or we will be acused of murder"
ill start searching the house for odd stuff.
Is it wrong that, after this remark, all I can picture is Hengist pulling a hand-crossbow out from under his tunic, wiping it off, and tossing beside the carpenter's corpse?

That would be awesome. :)
Fortunately Hengist has truth on his side. "Guy came at me when I asked about his kids. I had to put him down." It's not like I'm an armed stranger and he's a gainfully employed local... oh.
I'd say someone should pass on the low profile advice, but I suspect it's far too late for that. :)
ok guys, tomorrow is my weding and then ill be at brazil for my honeymoon till 11/12/2015, until i come back consider kaul some sort of better paid henchmen and use his moderate skills at your convenience.
good luck and see you soon!
Suggest Kaul grabs that leafy chest whole, shoves it in his backpack if it fits or carries it if it doesnt, and we can deal with it later. And maybe just lurk upstairs, either to backstab or escape out a window?
Looking at Kaul's inventory to determine what he can dump out of his backpack in order to steal the carved box has made me decide he has left some of his gear back at the inn, and didn't attempt to clamber up to the second story with all of it. Like his 10' pole. And his wardog.
No, see, what you do is, you get a muzzle for the dog, to keep it quiet. And you get a harness for the dog, with a loop on the back of the harness, for ease of handling. Then you have a blacksmith make an end cap for your ten foot pole, with a loop built in that you can thread a rope through. Then you tie the wardog to the ten foot pole, so you can carry the whole package quite easily somehow. And if you do get in combat after all, you can unmuzzle the dog and wield it from the second rank like a polearm, because it's probably pissed as **** by now, so it should be a real buzzsaw. :)
Basically, yes. The "door" to the workshop is actually two larger, swinging doors, as on a barn. Almost the entire front of the workshop swings open. One of Aramis' companions stands in front of each door, facing out. Masov was standing in the "doorway" near the centre, with the right-hand door ajar, and motioned to someone inside, then moved out and closed the door. That was my understanding, anyway. We'll see if Koewn takes issue with that. And yes, both of Aramis' companions are withing melee range of Masov. The area where Masov and the other two are standing is directly in front of the doors, and under an overhang.
I am actually really enjoying playing Hengist, now that I've figured out a direction for him. I'm not sure sometimes if he's on track for a long ride, but it should be a fun one.
Acknowledging things could still go south with Aramis and his merry men, or we could still get more info here, should we start thinking about our next course of action as well? Some options I see:
Follow up on Leland the Smith and Stephon the provisioner, given Neddy the carpenter seems to have been a hot tip.
Dungeon crawl under the Temple of Solis, with or without stealthy entrance.
Take rooms at the Silver Scale and try to ambush whoever comes for us in the night. (I'd rather not bring trouble down on the Flock of Sheep.)
Call Hengist and Kaul's double homicide a job well done and get the heck out of town.
I particularly like the double homicide remark. Just wanted to say I'm going to try and post later today. I've been really under the weather the last two days with a stomach bug (or possibly the 40oz flu - we had our face-to-face session on Friday, and much mead was spilled).
Anyone know a good image hosting site? I can't seem to recover my Imagshack account that I've been using with them, and I'm annoyed enough to avoid them in future...
So, regarding next steps, I'd generally promote hounding Aramis to the baron's so as to have our story told our way.
Unless, of course, Aramis' story includes the discovery and death of our elf in the shelf, in which case we should either swim for it or try and frame the elf for the whole thing.
That would be smart, yes, so... Hengist can be talked into it, anyway.
If they're online soon I'd suggest a bloodthirsty qualified group of investigators split off to question another peaceful villager. Given They (whoever they are) are going to know we're snooping around anyway, we might as well seize the momentum. But it's probably not a solo/small team mission, so either way.
Also, anyone smarter than Hengist starting to have suspicions about the Cottage Elves' day job?
Short term, I think half the group should see Mallory immediately while the other half tries our next lead.
Mid-term, we should do a night surveillance of the Elves' cottage and the temple.
I don't think Kaul had been resolved beyond grabbing the pack, so presumably he's still inside as well - so we're missing two party members in a building we can't necessarily get into, and their status is unknown.
I dunno how long "some time" is, but he presumably went upstairs; if he's in on the gig he would have checked where Gwydion was hiding, but there's a chance Kaul snuck out with the pack and the chest.
We should perhaps see if Kaul left the way he came over the palisade.
In either case, us ...4? remaining really ought to stick together and not split up again, whether that's to Mallory or we bust in under the temple.
I see Koewn and Hardrada are down for seeing the baron, and Hengist really ought to be in on that to take the fall, so I'd call it for that.
I think splitting the party for another lead only makes sense if the other team jumps on it, which I don't see happening at the moment, so may be best to stick together.
Next move after this, we seem to have votes for dungeon crawl under the temple or night time stake out. I'm good for either one, so I'd let someone else make the call there, but we probably ought to decide to get it queued up.
So much for shortly. How about longly? I'm still working on it. And...something else.
I should also let people know that I'll be travelling for the next week. I'm uncertain of what my internet connectivity is going to be like. I'll be hiking in the Grand Canyon on the weekend, so Saturday/Sunday will be dicey, but during the week should be okay...
Sorry about that; thought I was caught up and missed that entirely somehow.
No worries. Just so everybody knows, I was going to roll for Dave R this morning, and will do so before there's too much delay to keep things rolling.

I need a post from Kaul before we go on with Hengist and Dagmar.
Ah, bystanders. No way this can go wrong. :)
It actually did cross my mind once to try and capture, but that fight had me worried for a bit.
Helluva carpenter. You would not want to get between him and his work.
Is it wrong that, after this remark, all I can picture is Hengist pulling a hand-crossbow out from under his tunic, wiping it off, and tossing beside the carpenter's corpse?
I recommend lighting the building on fire.
Evidence? What evidence?
That would be awesome. :)

Thanks, koewn, for pointing out the issue with Imageshack. I'll have to look in to what's going on...
Let's see if we can give Lamech and Barkman a chance to respond, then move forward.

dont worry *ill be back
*read in terminator voice
Awesome, gratz!
Wow! Fantastic news! Congratulations, and have a great trip!
P.S.: We'll try not to get you killed in the interim.
Congratulations! No promises on the keeping you alive bit.
thank you all and dont worry, if you kill me i shall return in a new form. but try not, because next character wont be a thief.
Speaking of which, the party can tell me what Kaul is doing. I'll only intervene if I think it's something unreasonable.
Suggest Kaul grabs that leafy chest whole, shoves it in his backpack if it fits or carries it if it doesnt, and we can deal with it later. And maybe just lurk upstairs, either to backstab or escape out a window?
Okay, Kaul will do that. He has failed to open the other chest.

quite easilysomehow. And if you do get in combat after all, you can unmuzzle the dog and wield it from the second rank like a polearm, because it's probably pissed as **** by now, so it should be a real buzzsaw. :)Or, yeah, just leave it behind.
Paging barkman!
Sorry, busy couple of days! I'll be posting tonight.
Hoping to get a response from Dave R before the constable, Aramis, does anything more.
The last reference to his location I saw, Masov was standing in the doorway.
This list is to help me fix things in my brain; let me know if it's wrong.
There exists a door to the carpenter's workshop. There's a bunch of people inside.
Masov is standing in that doorway or just outside.
The two deputies are standing to either side of the doorway, basically in melee range of Masov.
Kerrick is some distance away (perhaps 30 feet) but close enough to have been identified and see what's going on.
Basically, yes. The "door" to the workshop is actually two larger, swinging doors, as on a barn. Almost the entire front of the workshop swings open. I also wanted to mention that I literally laugh out loud reading Hengist.

I usually use Imgur

That's alright. What I lack in a mystic aura I make up in a -1 Int mod. :p
Alright, the party, sans Gwydion and Kaul, is going to head off to speak with Lord Mallory. I'll post to that effect shortly.
So much for shortly. How about longly? I'm still working on it. And...something else.

I noticed Aria was not on the list of characters who are standing outside the Duke's manor.
Was this an oversight, or did she wander off somewhere?
I was wondering the same thing! I had the flu for most of last week so I fell silent but I've been reading the threads.
I am back!!!!
