On the assumption they're already forewarned at the temple, I'd vote break down the door of the elves' cottage first. If it's locked up now there's some chance there's something useful there, or maybe more information.
I see Koewn and Aryxmaraki voting temple, Hardrada preferring elven bungalow first, Lucasdelsur in favor of kicking down doors in general but vague on order of operations. My vote brings it to a tie, which isn't best practice, and I'm not dead set on it anyway. If no one else speaks up for the sylvan bed and breakfast I'll change my vote for the temple.
Sorry for the long delay in responding. Crazy busy today. Very long days of meetings for work tomorrow and Tuesday, too, so it'll probably be similar (on the site once in the evening).
So for anyone who is in the other game at Unseen Servant forums you may have read about computer troubles and such. I am happy to report I have a new computer up and running!
Now I just need to remember my unseen servant password...
Edit: Yeah, I think I just need to wait for the forgot password e-mail. That "stay logged in function" does not help my memory...
I'm a bit swamped at work this week, with looong training days that went from two days this week to five this afternoon. I'll still be posting, but it is going to be only in the late evenings.
If you've removed the items from the box, please mark off on your character sheet if you're carrying one or more of them. The box itself takes up most of the space in a backpack.
For information, it's mid-afternoon, and you have a couple hours of full daylight left. You are currently encamped at the carpenter's house, with Kerrick and Hengist outside, Cynis sitting at the doors, Miska, Aria, and Dagmar just inside the doors, Andrew, Kaul and Masov gathered round the box in the middle of the workshop, and Gwydion watching the street from the second-floor windows.
Given the hour, visiting the elves first may preclude getting to and/or through the temple during the day. We should have a coherent plan about what we're doing overnight - whether we meet things headon at the temple or we attempt to hole up.
by the way, i prefer to be light packed... being a rogue and all that, so if anybody will want my box or its contents ill happily give it away for now.
As far as you know, the elves were in a house near the north wall of the palisade, just outside the Baron's estate. Masov, Miska, and Gwydion have previously been there. What's your plan? Leave now? Later? Marchng order? Approach?
Right now sounds great. On behalf of Lord Mallory, we can investigate their house. Afterwards, I think we should plan to stake out both the Elves and the temple for three or four hours. Around midnight, we plan to link up and check out the temple.
It appears we may have lost Dave R (Hengist) and barkman (Miska). I'm going to give it a bit longer, as Dave R has been pretty regular, and it's a busy time of year.
Also, please be aware that things are going to get pretty slow from mid-next-week to the new year.
EDIT: Okay, I expect it to get pretty slow, but maybe you'll all be posting fiends over the holidays. I'll try and roll with that if it's the case, but there will be some disruption from my side.
I actually have no idea what the rules in ACKS would say about kicking down a door together, but I figured it can't hurt to call for backup. Especially if I keep rolling like this.
As a heads up, I'm leaving to attend my brother's wedding tomorrow afternoon and will return late Sunday. I expect to still be able to check in at least once a day, though I'll be on mobile, so hopefully the dice roller will work.
But if I fail to respond in a timely fashion, that's why.
If anyone else (Hengist, Aria, Miska, Andrew?) wants to squeeze in an action this round, now is the time. The door has shut, but there is a window open (Hengist smashed his way through) to the left of the door.
Question: How big are the windows to the cottage? Is it feasible for Kerrick, armored and with spear and shield and an 8 dex, to get through, or would it require him to actually be competent?
(Follow-up question: are there any elves standing close enough to the window to get stabbed through it?)
None of the elves stand close enough to either window to be within reach of Kerrick's spear.
Kerrick believes he can climb through the window, though it will be awkward, particularly with his spear in hand. He can rest the spear, climb through, then reach back for it, or toss the spear through and then climb after it.
The disturbed area beneath the window is inside the palisade? If so, Gwydion will hang and then drop. He will then seek evidence of a portal in the palisade while remaining prepared to stab a fleeing Elf.
The disturbed area is on top of the palisade. Water appears to run off the thatched roof of the cottage, hitting the top of the palisade and spilling down the sides (it's a tight squeeze between the palisade and the rear wall of the cottage; also, the top of the palisade is quite slippery because of this). The green growth on the wood under the cottage's rear window has been disturbed, as if trampled.
Note, if Andrew wants to try throwing another dart before the current round I just posted ends, he can attempt to do so. If he can match or beat Initiative 3, he can target the hollow elves just before they attack Hengist.
Don't forget to post actions for the next round, too.
Seeing as this looks like a pretty crucial round, I'd like to hear from Lamech, Hardrada, Lucasdelsur, and barkman, if possible, before proceeding. I'll give it until either late tonight or early tomorrow morning.
If I can cast from my potentially precarious position, I would like to cast Choking Grip on the Elf climbing down the wall. Otherwise, I'll throw a dagger at him in hopes that it causes him to fall.
Gwydion can lean back against the rear cottage wall to brace himself. It will be precarious if he is struck, but he can cast from there. Give me an action and Initiative roll in the IC thread, please.

Happy to have you back!

I am simultaneously disappointed and relieved that Kerrick beat Hengist to answering the question, "where's Ned?" :/
Well done! I haven't managed that one in a while.

What's the party's next move?

Elves
Elves is fine.
Given the hour, visiting the elves first may preclude getting to and/or through the temple during the day. We should have a coherent plan about what we're doing overnight - whether we meet things headon at the temple or we attempt to hole up.
I'll wait for another one or two to weigh in, then go with that, assuming it's all elves.
kill all the elves

I am back! I can only give you my profuse apologies, but I should be squared away now.
No worries! Very glad to have you (and Hengist) back. Hope you don't mind, but I moved Hengist into harm's way. It seemed like what you would do!
:-D
Pretty much! As long he does it in "style".
Hello, gents! Thanks for your patience over the holidays. I'm back, and will resume a more regular posting schedule today.
My initiative roll should have been +1, by the way.
Ha!
I'll give until mid-day tomorrow for anyone else to post actions in-character, then I'll proceed with what I have.
As a heads up, I'm leaving to attend my brother's wedding tomorrow afternoon and will return late Sunday. I expect to still be able to check in at least once a day, though I'll be on mobile, so hopefully the dice roller will work.

No problem. I'm betting you won't have any problems, as I mostly access from my phone during the day.
If anyone else (Hengist, Aria, Miska, Andrew?) wants to squeeze in an action this round, now is the time. The door has shut, but there is a window open (Hengist smashed his way through) to the left of the door.
Sorry, I got distracted by L&E. I'd like Aria to crawl in through the window.
Did Kerrick lose his action or can I switch it?
If switching is available, I'll go try to smash up another window.
Question: How big are the windows to the cottage? Is it feasible for Kerrick, armored and with spear and shield and an 8 dex, to get through, or would it require him to actually be competent?

Have we lost barkman?
He appears grievously wounded, and near death. If that helps.
:-)

Looking at Gwydion's spellbook, I assume you're not going to cast Read Languages at him?
:-D
