12-hour "days?"

Regarding spellcaster spells per day. If I get a good 8 hours of sleep, spend my one hour studying, and blow all my spells-per-day in 3 hours of adventuring, can I then take an 8-hour nap and start the cycle all over again?

This seems to me to be against the intent of the rules, but I haven’t found anything that refers specifically to 24-hour or sunrise/sunset cycles.

I can’t be the only one who’s thought of this - any insights, O wise and ever-helpful denizens?

No, that’s not the intent. That ruling transforms mages into hibernating animals that are awake for only 4 hours out of every 24.

The intent is that you can only benefit from resting once every 24 hours.

And so dies the 15 minute adventuring day. This was something all the DMs in our group (myself included) went with in early TSR editions of the game. Any other interpretation felt like a munchkin attempting to circumvent the rules.

Sounds good to me, thanks!
