Efreeti bottle

Do the 101 days of service start from the time the bottle is opened, regardless of how often the efrit is out of the bottle, or does it only count time “outside”?

I believe the idea is that the efrit, once freed, refuses to re-enter the bottle. That's why he's volunteering to serve you- Because you freed him from a prison.

That's how it worked in the original stories that inspired that magical item, but then why does the bottle's description state it can be opened "once per day?" Wouldn't opening it on subsequent occasions have no meaning once the efreeti is already out? Either the bottle contains multiple efreet, or the one efreeti is going back inside whenever you get bored with its company. (Presumably because the bottle is a magic item that grants control of the efreeti; I very much doubt efreet voluntarily squeeze into implausibly-small airtight spaces under other circumstances.)

Two more questions:

1. The text says the efreeti serves the opener "loyally".  Does that mean it doesn't try and dick the opener over like in the monster description?

2. What happens if the opener dies while the efreeti is out of the bottle?
