Learning Proficiencies

Have there been any thoughts on how adventurers could learn new proficiencies outside of levelling up? It strikes me as something that characters could do in between expeditions, given enouh time, gold and teachers.

[quote="Jard"] You could potentially add more year milestones that grant this, but you should keep in mind that these milestones are what determines the price and availability of skilled NPCs in the world, so they may become relatively less valuable to a party that can do more things on its own.

Good point.

from page 64 of the core rulebook:

"Normal humans gain an additional general proficiency after 5 years, 15 years, and 35 years of work. Normal dwarves and elves gain an additional general proficiency after 5, 15, 35, and 70 years of work. Adventurers learn much faster – or die."

If your adventurers are a bit more meandering in their travels, you could reasonably let them gain these proficiencies at those markers.  You could potentially add more year milestones that grant this, but you should keep in mind that these milestones are what determines the price and availability of skilled NPCs in the world, so they may become relatively less valuable to a party that can do more things on its own.
