I know some of you already do not give your PCs full stats of their hired henchman. I did during my play-by-post game, and it ended up that if the party had enough money from their last adventure, they would churn through stat blocks of level 0s, looking for ubermensches.
Seeing as how I might be playing the Sinister Stone of Sakkara soon, I wanted a way to cut down on some of that without leaving the players totally blind, so I whipped up a table that should give some good hints as to what the stats are like without opening the kimono entirely:
This henchman looks ....
(Highest two stats above 10)
STAT | STR | DEX | CON | INT | WIS | CHA |
STR | Strong | |||||
DEX | Swift | Quick | ||||
CON | Sturdy | Tenacious | Hardy
INT | Fierce | Cunning | Focused | Studious
WIS | Powerful | Canny | Stoic | Clever | Wise
CHA | Attractive | Charming | Jovial | Witty | Friendly | Charismatic |
But...
(Lowest two stats below 10)
STAT | STR | DEX | CON | INT | WIS | CHA |
STR | Weak | |||||
DEX | Slow | Clumsy | ||||
CON | Sickly | Fat | Withered
INT | Haggard | Dimwitted | Frail | Stupid
WIS | Craven | Inattentive | Weak willed | Gullible | Foolish
CHA | Cruel | Dull | Crass | Boring | Mean | Rude |
Here are some example stat blocks and how they might be described:
